TROY - Derek King Holmes, infant son of Christopher Groves and Sativa Holmes, went to be in the arms of God on Thursday, May 1, 2014, in Troy. He was born on January 22, 2014, at MaineGeneral in Augusta. He was a precious baby boy who brought much joy to his parents and their families. He was loved deeply and his time with his family will be lovingly cherished.
There's a special angel in Heaven that is a part of me. It is not where I wanted him but where God wanted him to be. He was here but just a moment like a night time shooting star and though he is in heaven, he isn't very far. He touched the hearts of many like only angels can. I would've held him every minute if I'd only known God's plan. So I send this special message to the heavens up above. Please take care of my angel and send him all my love.
He is survived by his parents, Christopher Groves and Sativa Holmes of Troy; his grandparents, Joseph Holmes of Bangor, Tamara Holmes of Fairfield and Vincent and Catherine Groves of Troy; great grandmother, Bonita Waltman of Bangor; special aunts and uncles, Raven Holmes of Fairfield, William Sutton of Massachusetts, Vincent Groves of Troy, Johnathan Groves of Clinton and Michael Groves of Troy; and two special cousins, Hunter and Hailey.
A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield. To leave a message of kindness for the family, please visit www.shoreynichols.com.
