FAIRFIELD, PA - Dennis M. Didio, 67, of Fairfield, PA, died suddenly Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1946 in Flushing, N.Y. the son of the late Michael and Mabel Quinn Didio.
Dennis is survived by his fiancée, Lorraine, and her son, Brian and his wife, Rhonda, and her daughters, Kelly and Amanda, and granddaughters, Chloe and Savannah who lovingly called him "DenDen." He is also survived by his brother, Donald and his wife, Sandy, and nephews and godsons, Michael and Christopher, and nieces, Nancy and Nicole.
While growing up, Dennis enjoyed spending summers with his mother's large family in Glenburn. Dennis graduated from Glen Burnie High School, Glen Burnie, MD and attended the Maryland Institute College of Art. He also served in the National Guard. For many years he was employed as an estimator for R.W. Warner Mechanical Contractors in Frederick until his retirement. Dennis served on the Carroll Valley Borough Council for 19 years many of those as Council President. For several years he owned and operated Didio's Videos in Fairfield, PA. He was also an avid golfer, woodcarver, and in recent years learned to play the guitar and loved gardening. Dennis was also a metal detector enthusiast, and was Vice President of the PenMar Historical Recovery Association. He invented the ReadyShovel and a water antenna, devices that aid in metal detecting.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
