ORRINGTON - It is with incredible sadness to say goodbye to my wife and best friend, Debbie L. Smith. She was born September 18, 1960 and passed July 11, 2014, surrounded by her husband Tom, her pets: Sam, Neka & Lucy, and friend, Lisa Gabarra .
Debbie was raised in Dexter, graduated from Hermon High School and Cosmetology School in Bangor. She owned and operated The Hair's Den for many years. She also taught aerobics at the YWCA in Bangor for several years.
Debbie loved being outdoors. Over the years, she could be seen walking the back roads of Orrington with her pets Toby, Maxx, Sam and Neka. She had a fondness for all animals and enjoyed horseback riding. Her cats Kitty and Lucy brought her joy.
Debbie loved spending time at her camp on Pleasant River Lake. There she was surrounded by her many beautiful flower gardens, hummingbirds, the serenity of nature and wonderful friends. Walking her dogs, cross country skiing, four-wheeling, fishing, playing practical jokes and visiting with friends made her happy.
Debbie's beauty, mischievous personality, laughter and friendship will be missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Tom and pets Sam, Neka and Lucy of Orrington; In-Laws, Francis & Nancy Smith of Orrington; brother, Donald Brown of Derry, NH; special friends Sharon Cousins of Hermon, Lisa Gabarra of Orrington, Doris & Ray of Bucksport, Ellen & Fred of Orland, Cathy & Al of Georgetown, MA. and many other special friends whom she cherished throughout her life.
A special thank you goes to Wendy Johnson for providing Reiki, which gave Deb great comfort during her final days.
In remembrance of Deborah and to help with mounting medical expenses incurred during Deb's courageous fight against cancer, friends are invited to attend a benefit dinner at the East Orrington Congregational Church on Friday, July 25 from 5-7 p.m.
