- David Wilfred Pearson, 73, died June 1, 2017, in his home in Randolph, Maine, with his children and grandchildren at his side. He was born December 30, 1943, in Presque Isle, the second of three children born to Harry Lewis Pearson and Lucy (Merritt) Pearson of Guilford. David attended Guilford schools and graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1962 where he played the clarinet in the school band. David also graduated from Aroostook State Teachers College in 1966, where in his senior year was the Pledge Master of Kappa Delta Phi fraternity. He served as a cook in the Army National Guard from 1968-1974.
David was definitely a big flirt and the ladies loved it. He loved riding his motorcycle with yearly trips to Laconia and rides along the Maine Coast. David's children meant everything to him. He enjoyed taking trips to Ocean Point to find sea glass, gazing at the night sky to catch a glimpse of that one falling star, staying up late playing games, or roller skating around Happy Wheels. He was always there with his punny jokes and singing "Happy Birthday" over the phone.
David was predeceased by his parents, Harry Lewis Pearson and Lucy Philbrick (Merritt) Pearson; and a sister, Sally Sue Pearson. David is survived by his brother, Fredrick Alan Pearson and his wife, Patty, and their son, Antonio Solazzi, of Arizona, and his five children, Harry Lewis Pearson and his wife, Tamar, and daughters Shirley and Rosa, of New Jersey, Kristin Louise Humphries and her husband, Jared, and children, Cody Destine and Lily Angel, of Arkansas, Jason Dane Pearson of Augusta, Hayley Constance Pearson of Randolph, and John William Pearson of Virginia; one aunt of 27 aunts and uncles, Thelma Merritt of Bangor; and a long list of cousins. He will be greatly missed.
Flowers and well wishes to honor David can be sent to 38 Hillcrest Ave., Randolph, ME 04346.
Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, ME.
