- David L. Laing, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 7, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born November 2, 1938, in Westfield, the son of Russell and Hope (Chase) Laing.
He worked as a supervisor at Coca Cola for many years, then for Irving Oil as a delivery driver and manager. David enjoyed the outdoors, riding snow sleds and motorcycles, and mowing the lawn. He was very strong in his faith.
He is survived by a son David M. Laing of Westfield, a daughter Goldie Brown and her husband Ray of Presque Isle, three sisters and their husbands; JoAn and Reginald Ireland of Augusta, Vivian and Ronald Grendall of Antioch, TN. Juanita and Frank Barbee of Lake Park, GA. Three grandchildren; Colleen Brown and her husband D.J. Burby, Michael Brown and his girlfriend Crystal Desmond, and Ryan Laing Labounty. Ten great grandchildren, two special friends Wendell Grew and Ray Jones of Mars Hill. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine (Winship) Laing, a brother Emerson Laing, and a great granddaughter Heidi Ashley Simon.
