Dave's Story

EAST MACHIAS - Dave W. Maker, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 7, 1942 in Cutler, Maine, the son of Durward and Dora (Beam) Maker.

Dave served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years (1963-1967) on the USS WASP. He went on to work for IBEW throughout New England and then served 5 years of Civil Service at the Cutler Navy Base.

Dave enjoyed going to Coco Mountain on hunting and fishing trips with his sons and brothers. Dave also loved spending time with his family whether it be visits to the Allagash, a picnic, or Saturday bean night.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Gilpatrick) Maker, his children Keith, Julie, Toby, Timothy, Lisa and their families; two step-children that he loved as his own, Debra and Kevin and their families. He also leaves 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers Burton and Rickford and their families.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Durward & Dora Maker, step-son Ralph C. Maker, step-grandson Joshua C. Hanscom, and special nephew Rickford L. Maker.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held at a later date.
