Daniel's Story

PRESQUE ISLE - Daniel Joseph Powers, 59, passed away February 25, 2015, at his home in Presque Isle. He was born July 7, 1955, in Houlton, the son of Frederick and Muriel (Fortier) Powers.

Dan joined the United States Air Force in 1975 where he met his wife of 39 years, Nancy (Hall) Powers. He worked for Purolator Courier in Boston and Baltimore, and later as a United States Customs Officer in Houlton. He was a long time member of St. John's Episcopal Church. In his free time, Dan enjoyed listening to music, playing drums and traveling to visit his daughters in Germany and China. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Dan is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hall) Powers of Presque Isle; his two daughters, Amber Russell and her husband, Carl, with their two children, Ella and Connor of Pembina, ND, and Heather Belden and her husband, Adrian with their son, Noah of Chapin, SC; his brothers, Frederick L. Powers Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, Rellon Powers of Martinsburg, WV, Michael Powers of Houlton; and his sister, Mary (Powers) Williamson of Houlton, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.

Dan was predeceased by his parents.

Friends and family may call from 6-8pm, Friday, February 27, 2015, at Duncan Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street in Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 28, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Presque Isle, Rev. Kevin Kinsey celebrant. A reception will follow services at the church.
