BANGOR AND MELBOURNE BEACH, FLA. - Daniel "Dodo" Leroy Byorak, 74, husband of Joyce, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, Florida, after a brief illness. He was born August 23, 1941, in Bangor, to John "Paddy" Boyorak and Rose (Gardner) Boyorak.
He lived in Bangor his whole life until his retirement. He attended Bangor schools. He joined the work force at a very young age, working as a mailer at the Bangor Daily News for 49 years, retiring in 2003 as one of the longest tenured employees.
After moving to Florida in 2005, he enjoyed long walks on the beach every day, collecting shells and sea glass as he went. He also liked his daily swims in the pool. Another favorite pastime was enjoying a nice cigar while watching his Yankees or N.Y. Giants on his computer.
He was predeceased by his parents. Dodo will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce (Leighton) Byorak; a son, Scott and his wife, Cassandra; and his beloved grandson, Benjamin Daniel Byorak. He is survived by two brothers, John "Paddy" Boyorak Jr. and wife, Jean, Paul and wife, Yasmin, William and fiancée, Roxanne; one sister, Catherine and husband, Richard Whitcomb; one special aunt, Patricia Dall. Also surviving, a very special person in his life, Cathy (Dumont) Hewes and her husband, Kevin, "the Kevmeister", and daughters, Sydney and Libby; many loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
