- Dana A. Flanders, 57, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly November 28, 2016, at his home. He was born June 30, 1959, in Bangor, the son of Hubert and Marie (Dubay) Flanders. He grew up in Corinna and graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1977.
Dana married his soul mate, Valarie Charrier, on May 19, 1984. He spent his life as a tractor trailer driver, being an owner/operator for 10 years. He was especially appreciative of his recent employer, Travis and Alana Bagley. Dana loved spending time in the outdoors, whether it was hunting in Troy, camping with his family, or riding his Harley with his friends. He cherished his time with his family, friends, and his little buddy, Bosley.
Dana will be missed by his wife, Valarie of Plymouth; his daughters, Amanda and husband, Nick Wark of Troy and Beth Flanders and fiancé, Kyle Norris of Plymouth; 4 grandchildren, Isabella and Ryan Flanders-Wark and MacKenzie and Grant Liscomb; 3 sisters, Susan and husband, Eddie York of Clinton, Sally Flanders of Austin, TX, and Amy Fitch of Jay; many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Dana was predeceased by his parents; a niece, Emily; and his brother-in-law, Gary.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 P.M. Sunday, December 4th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, December 5th, with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy officiating. Burial will be in the Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Donations to the Cystinosis Research Foundation to help find a cure for the disease that his nephew, Jackson, is battling may be made "in memory of Dana Flanders, uncle of Jackson Blum-Lang" at cystinosisresearch.org.
