ISLESBORO - Jon Daniel (Dan) Techentin, 82, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Legacy Hospice in Ocala, Fla., surrounded by his wife and four sons.
Dan was born on October 30, 1933, in Glen Ellyn, Ill. After graduating from Glenbard Township High School in 1952, he attended Virginia Military Institute for one year, and completed his undergraduate work at the University of Illinois. He married Deborah (Debbie) Warren in Wethersfield, Conn. on June 14, 1958.
Dan worked for Hercules, Inc. for 43 years, where he managed a paper chemical research laboratory.
Many happy years were spent in his summer home on Islesboro, Maine, with his wife and family. He loved computers, gardening, and cooking, and he volunteered with libraries, a symphony orchestra, and many civic projects.
He was the president of Westwood Little League in Kalamazoo, Mich., where one of the fields is named in his honor, and he served on the board for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Debbie; four sons, Hank (Debbie) of Thompson's Station, Tenn., Bob (Jan) of Rochester, Minn., Bill (Keken) of Highland, Ind., and Jeff (Julia) of North Kingstown, R.I.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
