Dale's Story

BANGOR AND LAKE PLACID, FLA. - Dale E. McLaughlin, 75, died May 24, 2015, with his family by his side at a hospice facility in Sebring, FL. after a brief illness. He was born March 31, 1940, in Danforth, the son of Thomas McLaughlin and Helen (Bragg) McLaughlin.

Dale attended Bangor High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Korea and Georgia at Fort Benning during the Vietnam Era. Dale was a member of the National Guard for many years and during that time worked for the Webber Oil Company for over 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, swimming and Nascar. Dale belonged to the Bangor Elks Club, the Brewer Eagles Club, the Lake Placid Moose Lodge, the American Legion of Florida and the American Legion of Maine. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes, Florida.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Jo Ellen Nye McLaughlin of Lake Placid, Florida; his mother, Helen Bragg Hatch of Brewer; three siblings, Richard "Dick" Hatch and his wife, Debbie of Moore, S.C., Laverne Buck and her husband, Phillip of Carmel, and Debbie Hatch Goldman of Snow Camp, N.C.; five children, Patricia Henry and her husband, Everett of Portland, Lisa Reed of Blue Hill, Troy McLaughlin of Sedgewick, Kyle McLaughlin of Corinna and Scott McLaughlin of Carmel; three step-daughters, Tracy Murrin of Lake Falls, WI, Terri Nickerson of Gardiner, and Tanya Hunt of Winthrop,. Dale also leaves behind 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas McLaughlin; step-father, George Hatch; brother, Robert Hatch; and sister, Lieucella Denning. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Mia.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held Friday, July 3rd, 11 a.m. at the East Orrington Congregational Church, with Rev. Carl B. Schreiber, Jr. officiating.
