Cynthia's Story

Brewer - Cynthia Johnson Sherburne, wife of the late Roland Doug Sherburne, passed away on September 28, 2016, at the age of 92. She was born in Belfast, ME, on July 14, 1924, to Bernice Harnish Johnson and Simeon Foster Johnson.
She and her husband of 55 years owned and operated Bradstreet Fuel Co., now known as Bradstreet Lawn and Garden, until their retirement. They enjoyed many years boating off the New England coast. Together they were very active members and officers of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Millwee Chapter of Eastern Star, Orrington ME. Her most precious memories were of her term as Grand Ruth and her Eastern Star Grand Family. Cynthia became a member of East Orrington Congregational Church later in life and worked tirelessly with members on many church activities. Most of her friends there will remember how hard she worked making the pickles for the church Christmas fair. She will be missed by her friends at the Ellen Leach Memorial Home.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Gloria Woodbury and husband, Robert, of Bonita Springs FL; son, Reggie Sherburne and wife, Eileen, of Orrington ME; and twin sister, Catherine Pat Perkins, who lives with her daughter, Sandra, in Miami, FL. She also leaves behind the grandchildren she loved so much: Jon Woodbury and wife, Suzanne, Robert Woodbury and wife, Jennifer, Melissa Woodbury, Teresa Sherburne and Michael Sherburne and wife, Stephanie; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Cynthia was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Moody; and brothers, Richard, Aubrey and Gerry Johnson.
Burial will be private.
