Cora's Story

HOWLAND - Cora May McPheters, 90, wife of the late Wallace McPheters, died December 18, 2015, at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born September 14, 1925, in Albion, the daughter of Albert and Lucy (Robinson) Higgins.

Cora enjoyed plants and flowers, word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by seven children, Gene Grover and Barbara, of Dixmont, Cheryl McPherson and Neal, of South Carolina, Helen Lloyd, of South Carolina, Tom Grover and Althea, of Winterport, Ethel York and Sam, of Howland, Bill Grover and Abbie, of California and Lynn Grover, of South Carolina; a sister, Ruby Hanson, of West Enfield; a brother, Kelvin Higgins and Joy, of Oakland; 30 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Calvin Grover and Richard Grover; a daughter, Martha Saucier.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 20 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Dale Chasse officiating. Spring interment will be in Howland Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
