Southwest Harbor and Cathance Lake, FL
- "Musical/Political Junkie" 1941-2017
Connie did not go gently into that good night and had miles to go before she slept, but she simply wore out and probably died of a broken heart after a lengthy illness. She was born to Austin W. and Dorothy "Beam" Look - a sibling of six, survived by two beautiful daughters Kellie Lynne and Jacqueline Lee - also grandson Gabriel Aaron and ex-husband Doug. She was predeceased by her son and best friend Douglas Scott and grandson Austin Lewis Holmes, as well as her soul mate Vaughn Meader. She leaves behind dearest friends, Karen, George, Kenny, Tom and many others, (including her cat Abbe Bella).
Her life revolved around her family, friends, politics and music. A graduate of W.A., attended classes at UMA, Thomas College and the American Institute of Banking. She worked many years in Real Estate, Banking, the Maine State Legislature and the Secretary of State Office in various capacities. Her most important accomplishment was to be able to work in the court system as a crisis counselor for domestic violence victims. In later years, she cared for Alzheimer's and disabled people in their homes, both in Maine and Florida.
A kind and generous friend to anyone within her sphere. Recreated many times to make ends meet - potato fields, meat packaging, blueberry fields - whatever it took. Proudly raised three "Free Range" children, who got it. Perhaps just an old hippie! Commitment in Mary A. Look, Cemetery, Holmes Bay - date to be announced at a later time.
"How can we keep the music playing? How can we make it last? September morn, we danced and called it a brand new day. The circle will never be unbroken." Constance Holmes, author.
