Conrad's Story

MILO - Conrad E. Demers, 92, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday, April 12, 2015. He was born October 16, 1922, in Lewiston, son of Adrien and Marie Anne Demers.

He was married to his beloved wife, Gertrude, for 65 years and they raised five children. Known as a hardworking man, he spent most of his working years in the logging industry, cutting and hauling wood. Even in his retirement his chainsaw and wood splitter didn't stay idle for long. Sap and sawdust were in his blood.

He was a member of the Milo Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 66 years, and he particularly enjoyed talking to others about God's Kingdom and the hope for the future.

In addition to his wife, Gertrude, he is survived by two sons, Gerry and his wife, Paula, of Crestview, FL and Jeffery and his wife, Valerie, of Milo; two daughters, Constance Gootee of Indianapolis, IN, and Alice Mills and her husband, Paul, of Milo; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Carmen and Mignonne; brother, Fernand; his first born son, Mark; and son-in-law, Joe Gootee.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 1pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 472 West Main Street, Milo. Family and friends are invited to share refreshments and memories at the Milo Town Hall after the service. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
