HOWLAND - Maynard Shute, 82, husband of Cecile Shute, passed away Aug. 8, 2015 at Ross Manor after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Woodville Jan. 13, 1933. He was the son of the late Leona Murchison.
Maynard was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a logger for 54+ years and enjoyed being outside and cutting wood by hand. You would often find him tinkering in his garage. He was known for his ability to assemble any box of parts to put it back in working order. He also liked growing his rhubarb and unique apple trees.
He cherished his time with his family and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cecile, his son Anthony and Cindy Shute, daughter Lisa and Bob Bethune, and daughter Laurie and Glenn Brawn, all of Howland.
Maynard was predeceased by two sons Maynard and Michael.
He is survived by six grandchildren Amy Bethune and Andrew Jipson, Erica and Jim Spencer, Michelle Wilcox, Michael and Jenna Shute, Derrick and Erika Brawn, Kristen Brawn and Zach LaFreniere; seven great-grandchildren Lance Wilcox, Bryan Spencer, Mason Shute, Dylan Michaud, Cody Wilcox, Caden Shute and Farrah Brawn; sisters, Polly and Sam Porter, Donna and Dwinal Daigle and Jodie Stockley; brothers Reggie Murchison, Dwight and Clarice Murchison; sister in law Judy Murchison, brother in law Donald Michaud and also special friends and in laws Dalton and Edwina Ludden and family; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Jimmy Ireland, Lawrence Murchison and Clayton Murchison and sister Shirley Daigle.
Per Maynard's request there will be no visiting hours, but there will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday August 16, 2015, at St. Matthews Cemetery, West Enfield, with the Rev. Myles Cyr presiding. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the Maynard Shute Team, P O Box 124, Howland, ME 04448.
