Clayton's Story

WHITING - Clayton Albert Stoddard Jr., 80, passed away peacefully Nov. 19, 2015 at Bangor hospital. He was born July 15, 1935 in East Machias the son of the late Marion (Wood) and Clayton Stoddard Sr.

He was a hard worker, and provided for his children and his loving wife Sharon. He worked for many years in the woods, the blueberry fields, and for twenty plus years as track man for the Maine Central Railroad until his retirement. He loved his family unconditionally. He had a big heart, and always helped others before himself. It didn't matter if he knew you or not, he would strike up a conversation with anyone just to talk. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, and taking rides into the woods. He enjoyed telling stories of the past.

Clayton Jr. will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife Phoebe; sons Randy and wife Norma and Wade and his wife Monica; daughters Charlene Foss, and Amanda Prescott; grandchildren - Ben Stoddard, Emily Stoddard, Shandelle Stoddard and her companion Sam, Talor Stoddard, Rebecca Foss, Joey Wood and companion Elisha, Luke and Sam Lancaster; many great grandchildren; a brother Wayne and his wife Peggy; two sisters Christine Ward, and Mary Hawkins and husband Mike; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Sharon, two daughters Dawn Wood, and Rhoda Lancaster; a granddaughter Lori Star Wood, and a brother Richard.

Graveside services will be held 11 am Sat. Nov. 28, 2015 at the Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at
