Clarence's Story

NORTHEAST HARBOR - Clarence "Bud" A. McGarr, 82, died August 9, 2014 in Bangor. He was born August 31, 1931 in Bar Harbor the son of Stuart and Sylvia (Gray) McGarr.

In his younger years Bud enjoyed square dancing with the Bells and Buoys Club. He had been an avid gardener and liked to travel. Bud worked at the Jackson Laboratory for 36 years as an equipment operator prior to his retirement.

Bud found his greatest pleasure in life was his grandchildren and they found him to be a wonderful grandfather.

He is survived by his son, Jack McGarr and wife Stacey; a daughter Darlene McGarr all of Bar Harbor; five grandchildren; Nicole McGarr and partner, Ben Hamor of Northeast Harbor, Max McGarr of NY, New York, Hannah and Eliza McGarr and Shawn Sullivan all of Bar Harbor; four great grandchildren; Marina McGarr with whom he had a very special relationship, Elli and Mariah Hamor, and Aliyah McGarr. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Leach) McGarr in 2011; a step-son, Dennis Sullivan and a grandson, Dennis Sullivan Jr. Friends are invited to call 6-8pm, Tues, August 12, 2014 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main Street, Mt. Desert. A graveside service at Seal Harbor Cemetery will be announced.
