Clara's Story

MILFORD - Clara H. Johnston Currier 98, died peacefully at home with her family present on February 7, 2015. She was born November 12, 1916 in Milford a daughter of Edwin and Beulah (Braun) Clara was raised in Milford, Maine, graduated from Old Town High school in 1934, and married Bernard F. Currier, sharing 53 years of marriage before his passing. She really enjoyed traveling to Texas to see all of her grand and great-grandchildren. Some of her most memorable trips were going to Bermuda playing golf with her husband. She would take great pleasure looking for his many miss-hit golf balls.

Clara is survived by her children, Corinne Smith; Wayne Currier and fiancée Sharon Kimball. Her grandchildren Chellis Smith Jr; Bernie Smith and wife Debbie; Angela Currier, David Currier; Susan Currier-Bagley and her husband Bill; Kathy Clayton and husband Billy. Clara was also survived by 15 great- grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandson; as well as six nephews, two nieces, and a very special brother in law, Edward Young. Clara was predeceased by her husband Bernard F. Currier; her two brothers Faye Johnston and Arthur Johnston; sister Ruth Young.

A special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Hospice, and Hope Care for Maine; Especially Janet Taylor who was with Clara seven days a week.

A Graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Joseph Cemetery, followed by a light reception for a celebration of life for Clara. Notes of condolences may be left at
