Charlotte's Story

LUBEC - Charlotte Ann (Porter) Rice, 69, passed away February 9, 2015, at a Machias Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 19, 1945, in Hartford, CT.

She was a hard worker, usually working two or more jobs. She worked at Peacock Canning Company, Wassons on the Hill, and as a CNA for Ocean View Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, going for rides, and her trips to Dunkin Donuts. She especially enjoyed her time with family, and loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, David and wife, Holly of Stockton Springs, and Johnny and wife, Barbara of Lubec; a daughter, Angel Lyons and husband, Scott of Stockton Springs; grandchildren - Jeffrey, Mathew, Alex and Craig Lane, Brittany and husband, Kevin, Chris, Amanda, Randy, Steven, Tiffany, and Shayna; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Peter Case and wife, Betty and Bobby, both of Lubec; a sister, Patty McMillan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, to include a special friend, Mona Denbow.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Rice in 2009; and her mother, Madeline Bassett.

Graveside services at Greenfield Cemetery in Lubec will be announced in the spring by McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
