Charles's Story

LUDINGTON, MICH. - Charles William Eberbach Jr., 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at his home, following a long illness that he fought courageously since 1996.

After graduating from Muskegon High School, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, served his country and then played football and baseball at the University of Maine, and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He taught and coached at Dicksfield, ME, Madison, ME, Muskegon, Mich., Spring Lake High School, and Ludington, Mich. In 1996 he retired due to health reasons. He served his community for 30 years as a county commissioner and was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Masonic Temple.

Charles leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte (Thibodeau) Eberbach; three children, Melanie Eberbach of Muskegon, Charles (Leslie) Eberbach III of Ludington and Melinda Eberbach of Ludington. He has five grandchildren, Rebecca (Chad) Skiba of Ludington, Jason Eberbach of Sparta, Matt (Stacy) Eberbach of Ludington, Skip (Bri) Lange of Ludington and Jessica Eberbach of Ludington; and four great-grandchildren, Jennah and Kensington Skiba, Ebbie Eberbach and Chelsea Lange. He is survived by one sister, Margaret St. Clair of Florida, beloved brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Blake and Delores Thibodeau of Dedham, ME; longtime family friend, Christy Christmas and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Florence Eberbach Sr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and James Traxler; two sister/brother-in-laws, Avis (Murray) Dansforth and Helen (Bill) Taylor; and one brother/sister-in-law, Garth (Mae) Thibodeau.
