Charles's Story

BLAINE - Charles E. "Bubby" Durost, 71, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2015, at his residence. He was born March 1, 1944, in Mars Hill, the son of Charles and Marion (Bubar) Durost.

He served in the U.S. Army. Charles "Bubby" worked as self-employed carpenter. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He was a member of the American Legion in Mars Hill.

"Bubby" is survived by his mother, Marion Durost of Mars Hill; his wife, Avis (Morrison) Durost of Blaine; two sons, Bev Jewett and his wife, Janice, and Troy Durost and his significant other, Amanda, all of Mars Hill; a daughter, Kathy Phillips and her husband, George, of Harvey, N.B., Canada; a sister, Joanne Kinney and her husband, Harold, of Blaine; 7 grandchildren, Bailee, Emilee and Will Durost, Taylor Bradstreet, Toby and Bobby Phillips, Holly Ellis, and Caleb Jewett; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call noon Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, where funeral services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kurt Kinney officiating.
