Charles (C.J.)'s Story
- Charles Joseph (C.J.) Bennett III, 63, of Bangor and Kennebunkport passed away suddenly at his home on April 23, 2017. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 11, 1954, the son of Charles and Marie Bennett. A graduate of Cheverus High School class of 1972 he continued his education at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, completing his education at the University of Maine at Machias.
C.J. lived in the Bar Harbor area working at the Jackson Laboratory and raising his two children, Nicholas and Jillian.
Later, C.J. moved to Bangor and enjoyed a career as a custom picture framer displaying his artistic side working out of his studio. His love of the arts was displayed in his writing, singing and dancing. He loved traveling, the ocean and sports. During his youth, C.J. was an accomplished athlete who enjoyed all sports including football, basketball and surfing. Later in life he enjoyed swimming and tennis as part of his sports passion.
C.J. is survived by his daughter Jillian; son Nicholas; eight brothers and sisters; companion Cindy Hammond and their beloved dog Storm as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at The Kennebunkport Community Center, Temple Street, Kennebunkport, Maine.
A Bangor memorial is planned for a later date- an announcement will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to remember C.J. may do so with a contribution to the Bangor Humane Society 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, Maine 04401 in honor of C.J. Bennett.
