BUXTON - Cecil Bert Eldridge, passed away unexpectedly Friday June 19th. He was born June 24th, 1953 in Bangor, ME son of Leola and Linwood Eldridge.
Cecil grew up oldest of six boys in Bangor. He loved to tell stories of the trouble his brothers would get into, being the star on the basketball team and quarterback for the football team. He spent more recent days on the golf course. Cecil loved to read the paper start to finish every day. He always wanted to know everything going on. He also wanted to see if his foursome had been mentioned for their ranking the day before.
Cecil's laugh was one that would take over his body and light up the room. His daughters remember those laughs would always come after he would do the junior bird while getting them on the bus. He loved to share stories with anyone that was willing to listen and make friends everywhere. He was loved by many. His family remembers that Cecil could be across the country and someone he knew would stop him on the street to say "Hey Swiz."
Family meant the world to him. He was founder of the Boot 5 Club with the grandchildren and could be seen on the sidelines of all of their games. He had several jobs. Currently he worked for the Portland Press Herald. He also loved his days in the research and development department at Fresh Samantha, creating drinks that are still sold today.
Cecil is predeceased by his mother Leola Eldridge, father Linwood Eldridge, and brother Dale Eldridge. He is survived by his brothers, Larry Eldridge of Carmel, Robert Eldridge and wife, Cheryl, of Hermon, Mark Eldridge and wife, Lynn, of Millinocket, and Eric Eldridge and wife, Denise, of Hermon; his daughters, Alisa Sprowl and husband, Isaac of Limington, and Jennifer Pyle and husband Jody, of Gorham; grandchildren Brayden, Bryce, Katelyn and Ashlyn Pyle of Gorham and Dylan and Jaxson Sprowl of Limington, immediate family members Laura Russell, Richard Russell and James Martell. He had many other nieces and nephews, and many many friends from Sugarloaf to Bar Harbor to Free Street, he considered everyone family.
Service will be on Saturday June 27th at 12:00. Following the service will be a Celebration of Life at Spire 29.
