CLINTON - Cecelia "Betty" Chandler, 83, passes away on Friday April 15, 2016 at Woodlands Senior Living Center in Brewer. She was born the daughter of S. Everett Chandler and Mary (Duncan) Chandler on July 10, 1932, in Bucksport.
Betty grew up in Bucksport, graduating from Bucksport High School Class of 1950. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Husson College in 1954. While at Husson, she played on the women's basketball team. Upon her graduation from college, she taught in Stonington, Clinton and Winslow High Schools for 40 years. In 1956 she moved to Clinton and resided there her entire life. In her free time she enjoyed fishing, canoeing, snowmobiling, crafts, watching sports on TV and having coffee with her closet friends.
She is survived by her brother, Earl Chandler, Langdon "Smally" Chandler, his wife Diane; nephews, William Chandler, Donald Chandler, Brian Chandler and Troy Chandler; nieces, Carol Lowell and Terri Elden; and special friends, Ray and Joyce Dickey and Richard and Helen Jones. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her special friend, Priscilla Coburn; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Chandler; and nephew, Jeffrey Chandler.
At Betty's request there will be no services. She will be buried at Riverview Cemetery in Bucksport. Memorial contribuations may be made in Betty's honor to the Clinton Methodist Church 36 Church Street Clinton, Maine 04927.
