- Carol A. Foss, 83, died at her home in Orland after a long illness, on May 17, 2017. She was born on December 9, 1933, on Verona Island, the youngest of ten children born to Frank and Essie (Craig) Allen.
Carol graduated from Brewer High School in 1950. After raising five sons, she went to college, graduating from UMO in 1986. She worked as a case worker at Bangor Mental Health until retiring in 2001. Carol was a devout Catholic and attended mass every Sunday at St. Vincent de Paul.
Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. Carol enjoyed shopping, eating ice cream, and taking walks with her four granddaughters. She loved spending time with her four great-grandchildren and laughing with her sons.
Carol was predeceased by her loving parents; nine brothers and sister; and her beloved eldest son Russell Foss. She is survived by four sons: Steven and Daissy Foss of South Portland; their daughters Kathy Mills, Jessica Elsner, and Amy Gamboa all of South Portland; Raymond Foss of Bangor; his daughter Lesley Foss of Orono; James Foss of Ellsworth; William Foss of Orland; four great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.
Viewing hours are from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Franklin St., Bucksport. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
