Carlista's Story

NEWPORT AND HURRICANE, W.V. - Carlista Paine, 88, left this earth to be with the Lord Dec. 4, 2015 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia after a long illness.

She was born in Orono, Maine on June 30, 1927 the daughter of Archibald and Vivian (Sinclair) Earley.

Carlista was married to Malcolm "Mac" R. Paine for 54 years. He predeceased her on June 11, 2000. Following "Mac's" death, Clis moved to Hurricane W.V to be with her daughter Sandra, where she had made her home. Clis taught ceramics classes and made porcelain dolls for many years in Newport and Palmyra. She and her husband also owned and operated a wood craft shop in Palmyra known as Country Wood - N - Things.

Clis was predeceased by her parents Archibald "Babe" and Vivian (Sinclair) Earley, her brother James "Jimmy" Earley, her husband Malcolm "Mac" Paine, and a great great grandson Elisha Chapman.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon O'Leary and her life partner John Rust of Florida, Sandra Buckland and her husband Val of West Virginia, 2 brothers, and their wives, Charles and Avis Earley of Virginia, Reginald and Maggie Earley of Alton, her sister and husband, Judy And Ray Tate of Florida, a sister-in-law Evelyn Hawthorne of Newport, four granddaughters and their husbands; Rachael and Joey Gamble of Florida, Rebecca and Robbie Thibodeau of Bangor, Shelley and Patrick Coleman of West Virginia, Sherri and Matt Chapman of Tennessee, 11 great grandchildren Brooke Scarbo, Chely Thibodeau, Caleb Chapman and his wife Sara, Bentley Scarbro, Emily Chapman, Chelsea Welch, Sam Chapman, Anna Chapman, Nichole Gamble, Ben Coleman, Katie Chapman, and one great great grandson Josiah Malcolm Chapman, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday Dec. 11,2015 fro 12 noon until time of service at 1 PM at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center 34 High Street Newport Maine. Burial will be in the family lot Corinthian Cemetery Corinth, Maine.
