HOLDEN - Carl L. Loper, 86, loving father and grandfather, died December 9, 2015, at the Maine Veterans Home. He was born in Canisteo, NY, September 14, 1929, the son of Orville and Flora (Lampman) Loper.
After graduating from Alfred Almond High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1953, serving in Guam and later met the love of his life while serving at Charleston Air Force Base Maine.
Carl and Peggy Adams were married Sept. 6, 1954, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. After a long career in sales, including Nabisco, Nissens Baking Co. and Kimberly-Clark, he retired in 1999 to the enjoyment of his camp on Cambolassee Lake in Lincoln with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen and her husband, Douglas Kydd of Holden, Sheri and her husband, Michael Hill of Glenburn; three grandchildren, Christopher Hill and his wife, Nyla of Florida, Erica and her husband, Win Swanton of Hawaii and Brittany Hill of Washington D.C.; two great-grandsons, Chase and Colton Hill of Florida. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Peggy, in 1994.
Friends and relatives may call at the Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor, Monday 3-7 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the family lot Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine Veterans Home, 44 Hogan Rd., Bangor, ME 04401, in memory of Carl.
