MADAWASKA - Camille Lagasse, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Fort Kent, Maine. He was born on October 1, 1939 in Madawaska, the son of Ernest and Elsie (Cyr) Lagasse.
After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he returned home, married and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeannine (Bouchard) Lagasse of Madawaska; his sons, Michael and his wife, Kathleen of St. David; Gary and his wife, Monica of Dayton, Me; his daughter, Tina Pelletier and her husband, Robert of Fort Kent; three brothers, Norman, Richard, Philip and his wife, Alice of Madawaska; four sisters, Jeannine Bragdon and her husband, Gary of Caribou; Bernadette Gendreau and her husband, Richard of Madawaska; Marie Jeanne of Madawaska; Joan Caron of St. Jacques NB; nine grandchildren, Ben and his wife, Sam of Gillette, Wyoming, Kristina Morin and her husband, Lance of Portland, Abigail, Alex, Dominic, Jacob, Jenna, Sadie and Mason. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Leo and Joel and one sister, Marie.
He worked at Jimmy's Foods in Van Buren for twenty-five years and then opened his own meat shop in Madawaska, where he served local residents with fresh cut meats and his famous cretons.
The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 1, at St. David Catholic Church. Family and friends may offer condolences at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Interment will take place immediately following the service in the St. David Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
