LITTLETON - Calvin K. Brown, 89, passed away April 19, 2014 peacefully at his home in Littleton. He was born Nov. 28, 1924, at Bucksport, the son of George and Hazel (Sweet) Brown.
Calvin married Gladys Burton and they enjoyed 63 years together. He joined in the US Navy and went to Japan during World War II. Calvin worked for the State of Maine DOT for 35 years, 25 years of which he proudly operated the grader. He worked the roads keeping them open and passable from Houlton to Bridgewater. Upon retiring, he worked for the grounds crew at Houlton Community Golf Club and also hauled gravel for Percy Tilley. He was a member of the VFW and the Dux Club as well as a member of the Lake Road Bible Church in Monticello.
Calvin is survived by his son, Gary Brown and his wife, Cynthia (Burtt) of Winthrop; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Hersey) Brown of Houlton; grandchildren, Garret Brown, Raquel (Brown) Lavigne, Eric Brown and Jordan Brown; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Issac and Natasha; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys (Burton) Brown, his parents, his son, Jack Brown, his brother, Frances and sister, Shirley.
Friends may call 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of the service at 12 noon at Dunn Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Littleton Cemetery at a later date.
