MAPLETON - On January 9, 2016, our father C. Wendell Coffin entered his final stage of life. He was born June 9, 1922, in Mapleton to Carroll and Dorothy (Waddell) Coffin.
Dad spent the majority of his life in Mapleton graduating from Mapleton High School in 1940 and married Wilda (McPherson) Coffin in 1942. Dad was in the auto parts business for 47 years and enjoyed the Boston Redsox, Celtics and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed cribbage and yard work in his younger days. He was a member of the Former Knights of Pythias of Mapleton and a Life member of the Mapleton Lions Club, being one of the founding members. Before failing in health, Dad attended Mapleton Baptist Church.
He leaves three children, his daughter Trudie Buck and her husband Clyde of Chapman, their children; Jason, Jon and Jeanna Detour, his son Gilbert Coffin and his wife Susan of Bangor, their children; Alicia McPhail and Maria Coffin, his daughter Ardis Kenney and her husband Alan of Houlton and their children; Kimberly, Karter and Korrie, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, dad was predeceased by his brother Dana Coffin and a special niece Elizabeth Dolan.
Dad always lit up the room with his smile and this poem reminds us of him. "Your Smile" Though your smile is gone forever, and your hand we cannot touch. We still have many memories of the one we loved so much. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in His keeping. We'll have you in our hearts. You will be sadly missed but never forgotten. By: Unknown Author
