Bruce's Story

CUTLER - Bruce W. Porter passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cutler, Maine on January 19, 2015. He was born August 6, 1954, the son of Arthur and Alice (Kinghorn) Porter. He graduated from Washington Academy in 1972 and went to work digging clams and working in the woods. In 1976 he married his sweetheart Vicki and they started their family, bringing up three children together. In 1983 Bruce purchased his first commercial fishing vessel and started his life of working on the water. He continued providing for his family and supplying seafood to his loved ones, much to his delight, until his death. He loved cars and in his youth spent time racing at Winterport Dragway. Bruce loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved it when all of his family was home together.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Vicki (Kilton) Porter, children: Amanda Chase and husband John of Cutler, Stephen and wife Erin of Bangor, Allyson Simmon and husband Chris of Plainfield, IL, parents Arthur and Alice Porter of Cutler, brother Scott and wife Arlene of Whiting, sister Donnalee Feeney of Roque Bluffs and Leigh Feeney of Jonesboro, grandsons Shane Chase and Hollis and Callum Porter, mother in law Vivian Kilton of East Machias, sister in law and brother in law Deborah and Leslie Look of Whiting. He is also survived by several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in law Stephen Kilton in May of 2014. He had many special people in his life, friends and family that he enjoyed spending time with as well.

Services will be held at Head of the River Baptist Church in Cutler on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00am. Immediately following at 12:00pm there will be a Celebration of Life at Bay Ridge Elementary School in Cutler. There will be a private graveside service for the family at a later date.
