- Bruce E. Parkhurst, 89, a devoted family man, died peacefully November 10, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born October 6, 1927, in Bangor, son of Earle E. and Madelin M. (Campbell) Parkhurst. Bruce was a graduate of Bangor High School and the University of Maine. He was employed as an engineer and retired in 1985 after 35 years of service at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, Bangor office. Bruce was an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow and on the Board of Review. He and his parents were part of a sharp shooting show, which traveled across New England. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as an electrician.
Bruce is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Helen C. Parkhurst; children Michael (Christine) Parkhurst, Christine (Richard) Rackliffe, Tammy (Wayne) Scheuring, Dale (Tamera King) Parkhurst, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his two cats. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Brookings Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with the Reverend Jack Williams officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings Smith, 163 Center Street, immediately following the service Tuesday. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Bruce in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt.
