HAMPDEN - Maureen Veneziano, 75, passed away October 19, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Wales, April 10, 1940, daughter of Bartholomew and Edna E. (Jones) Murphy.
As a young woman, Maureen worked at the University of Maine. After her children were born, she was a full-time mother and homemaker until they all were in school, then she worked at the Hampden Telephone Company. Maureen had a great interest in politics and worked for the town of Hampden during elections.
She was predeceased by two sons, Michael and Edward, and by two sisters, Meriam L. Pilotte and P. Eileen Murphy.
Surviving are, her husband, Donald, "Don," of 56 years; three children, Diane M. Mariano and her husband, James of Marshfield, MA., Steven J. Veneziano of Hampden, Brian J. Veneziano and his wife, Jodi of Hermon; five grandchildren, Stefanie Veneziano, Michael Veneziano, Cole Mariano, Donald Veneziano, and Franklin Veneziano; one brother, James H. Murphy and his wife, Claire of Winnemucca, NV.; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Katherine Lees of Vassalboro.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 7 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Av., Hampden. The Rite of Committal will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
Those wishing to remember Maureen in a special way may contribute in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor.
