- HUDSON - Brian J. Filtz, 64, died peacefully at his home on April 18, 2017 while in the presence of his family.
Born at Fort Campbell Army Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on December 19, 1952, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Jennie (Keith) Filtz.
After living several years in Connecticut, the family moved to Bangor, Maine. Brian graduated from Bangor High School in 1971.
He was a veteran of the US Army. After his discharge from military service, he returned to Bangor.
Over the years, Brian held a number of jobs. For a time he was an employee of the City of Bangor. He then pursued a lengthy career in construction work and carpentry.
Brian became an avid collector of antiques, particularly old bottles. Many a dirt pit found Brian at the bottom of it searching for a prize. He enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing, growing his own vegetables or looking after his pets.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Joanne (Treadwell) Filtz, son Robert Goodin of Northport, Florida, step-son Ryan Treadwell of Hudson, brother and sister-in-law Keith and Dawn Filtz of Bangor, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Bill Williams of Bangor, step-granddaughter and her fiancé, Laura Treadwell and Chancey Haney of Hudson. Brian also leaves behind his special dog, "Smokey".
The family thanks the friends and neighbors for the help an support they have provided during this difficult time. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
