Brian's Story

MACHIASPORT - Brian L. Berry of Machiasport, passed away June 25, 2014 at the Veterans Home in Bangor after a short illness. Brian was born in Machiasport, October 6th, 1934 to Clifford and Arletta (Johnson) Berry.

After serving in the U S Army, Brian spent some time working in Massachusetts, but soon realized that Machiasport was the only place for him. He worked as a clam digger and even tried lobster fishing for a short time. On December 31, 1997 Brian retired from the US Naval Station in Cutler where he worked for ten years as a Security Guard.

Brian leaves three sisters, Donna Dobbins and her husband, Buzz of Bedford, MA, Hildred McLean of Nashua, NH, Genesta Gower of Lowell, MA. and sister-in-law, Marjorie Berry of Machiasport. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Leola G. Berry of Machiasport. Karlene J. McLean and husband, Robert McLean of Canton, MA, brother, Ray H. Berry of Machiasport and brother-in-law, William McLean of Nashua, NH. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Brian's joy was the great out-of-doors. He watched for the full moon and greatly enjoyed wild flowers and animals. One of his greatest joys was the daily visits with his Buddies at Tom's Mini Mart in Machias. In fact, Brian recently made his television debut from Tom's with his smile and wave to you all.
