Betty's Story

E. WINTHROP - Betty L. (O'Roak) Willette passed away surrounded by her loving family at her home in E. Winthrop on May 29, 2016. Betty was born in Sherman, Me. on Dec. 12, 1934 the daughter of Mike and Pauline (Henderson) O'Roak.

Betty shared in the entrepreneurial enterprises of her late husband George such as working as a receptionist during the start up of Barco Credit Union back in 1961. Later on they would open Willette's Market (later known as Rideouts), a restaurant and take out, and finally a Pool Table store in Eddington. Betty had been a member of the Daughters of Isabella of the St. Peter's Catholic Church in East Millinocket, Me. She most recently enjoyed a membership with the Cushnoc Club in Augusta. Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and had a great love of her family.

Betty is predeceased by her loving husband George A. Willette of 48 years. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Sandra & Donald Robinson Jr. Of Penobscot, Me., Sheree & Andy Wess of Winthrop, Me., Nancy & Butch Billing of Moosehead, Me. and Walter & Diana Willette of Unity, Me.; ten grandchildren, Paige & her spouse Jim Morse, Melissa & her spouse Jason Goodwin, Tim & his spouse Holly Wess, Bill & his spouse Julie Wess, Carrie Ann Wess, Peggy Hanson, Amy Chaplin, George Billing, Alyssa Willette, Lindsy Willette. Eleven great grandchildren, Jacey, Lilley, & Emily Morse, Myles Goodwin, Ivy, Sawyer, Cora Wess, Andy & George Wess, Kayla Hanson, Tessa Chaplin. Three Sisters Vera Mitchell of Fla., Faye & her spouse Rodney Sleeper of N.H. & Nancy Cardani of MA.

A service will be held Saturday June 4th at 10:30 a.m. At Knowlton Hewins & Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street Winthrop, Me. There will be a gathering at Betty's home following the service at 56 Turtle Run Road, E. Winthrop, Me.
