Betty's Story

BASS HARBOR - Betty Lou Tozier, 71, passed away at home on February 18, 2015, peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1943, in Stonington, Maine, to Charles "Nipper" and Nellie "Kent" Ranquist.

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rodney Tozier; and her five children: daughter, Susan Parsley and husband, Kenni, of Bernard; daughter, Sandra Williams and husband, Ross, of Cumberland; son, Lawrence Tozier and wife, Stacy, of Sullivan; son, Dean Tozier and wife, Debby, of Bass Harbor; and daughter, Sharon Gilley and husband, Michael, of Bass Harbor. She is also survived by her sisters, Elaine (Ranquist) Overlock and Rosalie Ranquist. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother and sisters, Herbert, Elbert, Charles, James, Carlton, Frederick, Freda and Beverly. She is also survived by many precious grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, sister and brothers-in-law.

Betty grew up on Swans Island. She graduated from Pemetic High in 1961 as Salutatorian of her class. She was blessed being able to stay home raising all five children. Later in life she worked at Reeds Store, then Gotts Store. She was known for her warm smile greeting everyone .

A service will be held Feb. 28, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Tremont Congregational Church, Bass Harbor, Maine. A private interment will be held in the spring on Swans Island, Maine. Donations may be made in Betty's honor to Cancer Care Center of Brewer, Maine.
