Bertha's Story

MADAWASKA - Bertha Clavette, 86, passed away on June 16, 2014 at Van Buren health care facility. She was born in Caribou on July 29, 1927, daughter of the late David and Marie (Clavette) St. John.

Bertha was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Madawaska. She enjoyed bowling, shopping, and spending time at the family camp on Long Lake.

She is survived by two sons, John Clavette and his wife Debbie, and Roland Clavette all of Madawaska; her daughter-in-law, Rachelle Clavette of Madawaska; son-in-law, Renald Chasse of Bristol, CT; five grandchildren, David, Denis, Matthew, Jennifer, Chrissy; nine great grandchildren; her niece Lillian Searles and her husband Wendall of Caribou; several nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Clavette; two children, Robert Clavette and Gloria (Clavette) Chasse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Monday, June 23, 2014 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday before the service. Interment will be held immediately following the service in the Parish cemetery.
