MILLINOCKET - Bernadette M. Nice, 65, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at a Millinocket hospital. She was born July 9, 1948, in Eagle Lake, the daughter of Joseph and Prescille (Charette) Pelletier.
Born the oldest of eight children, Bernie was a leader, and helped raise her siblings. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, and any other role she filled in her family. Bernie was nimble fingered, and enjoyed working with crafts, and owned a craft store in town for a period of time. She loved to travel, with Las Vegas being one of her favorite destinations. Her family will also remember her generous gift of flying her children and grandchildren to Florida for a family vacation. Even though Bernie grew up in East Millinocket and graduated from Schenck High School, once she moved to Millinocket, she became a loyal fan of the Stearns Minutemen, and rarely missed any school activity in which her grandchildren were involved. She was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Little Flower Circle.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary Nice of Millinocket; two children, David Nice and his wife, Julie, of Great Falls, Mont., and Laurie Nice of Millinocket; four grandchildren, Jessica and MacKenzie Nice, and Leah and Gary Malcolm; seven siblings, Theresa McKeen of Amherst, Claudette Philbrook and her husband, John, of Millinocket, Linda Campbell of Brunswick, Joel Pelletier and his wife, Debbie, of Pittsfield, N.H., Roger Pelletier and his significant other, Brenda Robinson, of Millinocket, Jimmy Pelletier of Brewer, and Patsy Morrow of Eagle Lake; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bernie was predeceased by her parents and a brother-in-law, Charles Campbell Sr.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a Rosary prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by the officers and members of the Daughters of Isalbella, Little Flower Circle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev.
