LEWISTON - Ben "Oley" Olsen, 82, died November 2, 2014 at a Lewiston healthcare facility. He was born December 15, 1931 in Dexter, a son of Victor and Mabell (Tario) Olsen.
Ben graduated from N. H. Fay High School, Class of 1951, and received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maine. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean War and in various capacities for over 20 years. Ben retired as an electrical engineer with Honeywell Corporation. He continued his education throughout his life in diverse fields such as geology, and taught at the college level at the University of Arizona. He was a member of the Elks Club.
He is survived by 4 sons, Richard Mauro of Virginia, Bill Olsen of Augusta, Brian Mauro of Topsham, and Carl Olsen of Lewiston; 4 daughters, Robyn Galbreath of Chelsea, Tanya Malloy of Augusta, Kristen Duplessis of Florida and Karina MacFarland of Chelsea; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Kelly Olsen.
Private graveside committal services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com
