Barry's Story

HERMON - Barry F. Knowles, 78, died February 1, 2016, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor. He was bon August 16, 1937, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Crosby and Leona (Deag) Knowles.

Barry worked for New England Telephone from 1967 to 1987, and Northern Line Construction from 1987 to 1989. He married Gladys (Butler) on August 19, 1978. He belonged to many Masonic and military organizations.

In addition to his parents, Barry was predeceased by brothers Arthur and Norman; and sisters Pat Day and Phyllis Chambers.

He is survived by wife Gladys; sons Barry, Jr., and Gerald; daughters Lori, Diana, Deborah, Brenda, and Jill, as well as their spouses; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers Ronaldand Reginald; sisters Yvonne Hartford and Joanne Day; several nieces andnephews; and his cat BeeGee.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to the third floor staff at EMMC, and to the Unit C staff at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a gathering at the Hermon Rescue building, Billings Road, Hermon on February 6, starting at noon. A Masonic service will be held at 1p.m. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
