- Barbara J. (Varney) Grass, age 72, of Molunkus and Weston, passed away at home on September 3, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, following a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Biddeford, ME, on October 2, 1945, to Reta and William Varney of Lambert Lake.
Barbara was a retired CNA with the Danforth Residential Center. She was an active member of the Danforth Methodist Church.
Most importantly, Barbara was a loving, caring and kind spouse, mother, MeMe, sister and friend. She cherished her family and friends and loved hosting events.
Barbara was predeceased by her infant daughter, Penni Sue; her brothers, Fredrick Varney and Maurice Varney; and her sister, Dorothy Watson. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Morris; her two children, Wendy and her husband, Adam Hurlburt, of Hermon and Corey and his wife, Karyn, of Orrington. She leaves four grandchildren, Tristan, Trinity, Meagan and Deven; and one great-grandchild, Alia Jo. She was looking forward to the arrival of a great-grandson in November, Oliver James. Barbara also leaves behind her two sisters, Geraldine and her husband, Arnold Tuck, of Wallingford, CT, and Georgia Harriman of Calais, ME.
There will be a celebration of life at the Danforth Methodist Church on September 9, 2017. Visiting with the family will be held at 1 p.m. and the service will start at 2 p.m. with a reception to immediately to follow.
