LINCOLN - Barbara Jean Ryder, 66, died unexpectedly May 16, 2015, at her home. She was born April 16, 1949, in Eastport, the daughter of Seth and Dottie (Hall) Avery.
Barbara worked hard to achieve many great feats. She started out as a CNA and worked to become an EMT and taught CPR. Eventually she worked to become the Director of Respiratory Therapy and Cardiac Rehab at Penobscot Valley Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Beth Hill and Richard, of Palmyra, Indiana, Dale Murphy, of Bangor, Joan Makela and Keith, of Bradford, and Seth Ranco and Claudette, of Old Town; siblings, Seth Avery and Donna, of Oklahoma, Sandra Stevens and Elmer, of Eastport and Betty Kierstead; grandchildren, Mark Murphy Hill, Kenneth Lee Hill, Brittany Ranco, Katana Makela and a very special grandson (her heart) Sebastian Makela; a special niece, Mona Kierstead; step-children; and special friends, Cecile Pelletier and Richard Crosby Merle Thompson.
In addition to her loving husband, Kenneth Ryder, she was predeceased by her parents and a son, Brad Parker. Friends may call at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Stewart officiating.
