- Barbara Bryant Brown, 89, of Camden, died on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Tall Pines in Belfast. Born in Lincolnville on September 12, 1927, she was the daughter of Clifton D. and Marjorie (Roberts) Dickey. Barbara and her brother, Ken, grew up at Richmont, a beautiful estate overlooking Megunticook Lake where her parents, Cliff and Marjorie, worked as caretakers for Walter Rich and his family for 35 years. Their memorable childhood at Richmont was full of happy times and experiences with the children of the Rich family.
A member of the Class of 1945 of Camden High School, Barbara worked several years at Haskell & Corthell following graduation, and married Arthur Gardiner Bryant in 1947. Arthur often joked that "he found her in the window" at the store. Barbara was also the bookkeeper for Bryant's Sunoco Station, Arthur's business.
A member of a bowling league at Lucky Strike Lanes in Camden, she also specialized in knitting sweaters for children and babies. She was a most outgoing and friendly person who had many special friends. Barbara never said an unkind word of anyone and was more concerned for others than herself.
Barbara enjoyed spending the summer months and many good times with her family and friends at their cottage on Pitcher Pond in Lincolnville.
In her later years, she loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit with her which always brightened her day.
Surviving are her two children, John M. Bryant and his wife, Victoria of Camden; Sherry L. Terrio and her husband, Todd of Gray; four grandchildren, Adam Bryant and his wife, Jessica; Amy Bryant, all of Camden; Christopher Leach and his wife Sarah of Bowdoin; Cory Leach and his wife, Sara of S. Berwick; six great-grandchildren, Addison, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Kayleigh, Evelyn, and Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur G. Bryant who died in 1995; second husband, Douglas Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Prudence Dickey; and a niece, Jeannette Dickey Peasley.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Summit, Point Lookout, Lincolnville, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating.
