FARMINGDALE - Feb. 3, 1934 - Oct. 19, 2015

Barbara passed away peacefully at Heritage Rehab and Living Center on October 19, 2015.

Barbara was born in Bangor, Maine, on Feb. 3, 1934 to Dorothy Simpson Colpitts and Harold David Colpitts. Barbara's father passed away when she was seven years old. Barbara's mother remarried and relocated to Houlton, where Barbara met the love of her life, Elwood (Bud) Barker. Barbara was a very talented musician. She had a beautiful singing voice, played the piano and guitar, taught classical guitar, and was an interim Choir Director in her church. Barbara remained at home to raise her children, but following that, she became involved in the medical field, working first as an EKG technician, and later as an Office Manager and Assistant Materiel Manager for different medical facilities.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Elwood; children, David and wife, Laurel; Deborah and husband, Michael Wing; Dorothy and husband, Jeff Cooper; Douglas and wife, Monique; and Diane and husband, Tom Acousti. She is also survived by siblings, Richard Colpitts and wife, Mildred; Pamela Perry and husband, Alden; and brother, Fred Buell and wife, Donna.

Barbara was completely devoted to her family and loved spending time with her five children, 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Barbara may be sent to the Lewy Body Demenia Association at: www.lbda.org/go/donate
