EAST MILLINOCKET - Audrey Jean Damon, 84, passed away peacefully May 6, 2016, at Madigan Estates in Houlton, with her family by her side. She was born September 19, 1931, in Anson, the daughter of Gerald and Florence (Anderson) Thomas.
Audrey attended grammar school in Anson, and graduated from Madison High School. Audrey worked at the Lakewood Theater during high school, and then worked at the Norridgewock Shoe Factory after high school. She married Donald Damon on October 16, 1954, and celebrated 56 years of marriage. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting. Audrey and Donald seldom missed a Saturday night dance, and she often reminisced about the dances in later years. She will always be remembered for her special smile and her many stories of the farm in New Sharon. Audrey was a devoted wife and mother, and grandmother.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Donald Damon. She is survived by a son, Danny and his wife, Hattie, of Smithfield; two daughters of East Millinocket: Julie and husband, Les Brown, and Laurie Damon; six grandchildren, Joshua Damon and wife, Krystal, Angela and Derek Chase, Jonathan Damon, Isaiah Damon, Shawn Brown and wife, Kristen, Nikki Larson and husband, Roger; and seven great-grandchildren, Isabella, Israel, and Gabriel Damon, Addison Stratton, Tyler Brown, Haley and Gavin Larson. Audrey also has several cousins who were very special to her. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Madigan Estates for providing loving care to our mother over the past several years.
Family and friends may call 2-3 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, with the Reverend Linda Hatch officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Forest Hills Cemetery, Madison.
