Ashley's Story

Bangor - Ashley Angela Winchell, 21, died Aug. 19, 2016, after a continuing battle with addiction. Ashley was born Sept. 2, 1994, in Tomsk, Siberia, Russia.
She attended Bangor public Schools through the 9th grade. She then went to Grier Boarding School in Tyrone, Pa., and to Edgehill Boarding School in Windsor, N.S., Canada. She graduated with her high school diploma in 2013 through the Carleton Project. Ashley then went to Empire Beauty School. During school she was active in Bangor West Side Little League, Girl Scouts, Bangor YouthHockey, Black Bear Soccer, Top Hat Dance and Cirque de Soleil camp. She was even asked to be in a traveling Cirque de Soleil company. Ashley enjoyed traveling, meeting new people and learning about their culture. Surviving are Bonnie W. Haghkerdar, mother; daughter, Katerina Marilyn Winchell; twin brother, Bobby Winchell; special Canadian parents, Valerie and Alain Chamagne; special aunts, Jackie Evans and Roberta Winchell; cousins, Alix and Stephanie Winchell, Julie and Thomas Chamagne and Joshua, Jeremy and Jocelyn Ewings; and many friends. Ashley was predeceased by two sisters, Artemis and Arian Haghkerdar; grandparents, Robert and Marilyn Winchell; and uncle, Wallace A. Winchell.
Visiting will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Hammond St. Congregational Church, 43 High St., Bangor, followed by services at 11 a.m.
