Arthur's Story

PITTSFIELD - Arthur Young, 82, died peacefully on August 4, 2015, in Pittsfield. He was born on April 20, 1933, in Unity, Maine, the son of the late Ernest and Ruth (Wood) Young.

He worked as a supervisor and sales representative in the shoe manufacturing business for many years.

Arthur was a very humble yet self-sufficient man. He and his wife, Beverly, raised their five children together; family was everything to him. He enjoyed tinkering and restoring older cars and was recently helping his son, Chris, restore a 1971 Cutlass. Arthur liked playing cards, Poker was a favorite. He loved getting together with his family and "cramming" them all in his home. October was a special time of splitting and stacking wood together for the winter. He also liked to banter back and forth and was quite the jokester. He was a past member of the Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge #2713. He was loved very much and will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Morton and husband, Larry, of Pittsfield, Loretta McNichol and companion, Steve Staples, of Gorham, Rhonda Faloon and husband, Rod, of Pittsfield, Penny Young of Pittsfield and Chris Young and wife, Melissa, of Detroit; grandchildren, Jason Morton and wife, Suzy, Marti Allen and husband, Nate, Jennifer Migliore and husband, Andrew, Jill Faloon, Janelle Faloon and David Young; 11 great-grandchildren; special niece, who was just like a daughter, Cathy (Davis) Rivers and husband, Wayne, of Newburgh; special niece, Jackie Rowell and husband, Mervin of Pittsfield; special nephew, Larry Davis and wife, Mary, of San Diego, California; grandnephews, Andrew and John; grandnieces, Lianna and Shannon; several other nieces and nephews, who were all very special to Arthur.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Beverly Young in 1975; and his sister, Nellie Davis in 2004.
