- Arthur Richard Goodie passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1945 in Bangor, ME, to Edmond and Elizabeth Goodie, Art grew up in Orono and attended Orono High School. He was an Army veteran who proudly served his country. He worked at the Woodland Mill and also at the PERC plant in Orrington. Art was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was very family oriented.
Art will be remembered for his wit and storytelling. He loved to tell jokes and always had an array of stories to share, he loved to entertain. Art also loved music and enjoyed listening to CCR right up to the end. He also had a unique way of making people feel special including his special group of women known as the "Goodie Girls".
Art is survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Zina Regan, his son Jay Goodie and his wife Debbie and their two children- Kris and McKenna of Palmer, Alaska, his daughter Jen and her husband Eric Twardosky and their three children- Tucker, Zachariah and Theresa of Merrimac, NH, his brother Edmond and his wife Renee of Mims, FL, his sister Edith and her husband David Brooks of Bangor, ME, and many nieces and nephews. Art also had a special relationship with his nephew Mark Brooks and his wife Debbie of Orrington.
He was predeceased by his parents- Edmond and Elizabeth Goodie, sisters Katherine Munsey and Patricia Leighton, and his wife Theresa.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
